Earthing Backfill Materials

Bags of ACME Earth Enhancement Compound at the Ashima factory

Backfill material is placed around an earth electrode to raise the conductivity of the surrounding soil and hold earth resistance low. It retains moisture for extended periods, prevents corrosion of the electrode and stabilises the fault-current path.

What the numbers mean.

Test reports

Ask us for the current test report for the batch you are buying, and check which standard and laboratory it covers before you specify.

Under 0.12 Ω·m

Electrical resistivity is below 0.12 Ω·m, with a pH of 7–10 so it does not attack the electrode.

Non-corrosive

Sulphur content stays below 2%, which is what keeps the compound from consuming the electrode it protects.

Moisture retention

Water solubility of 30–40% holds moisture against the electrode through dry seasons.
